  Assistant Coach Charlton Zimmerman

Charlton Zimmerman joined the University of Delaware men's golf coaching staff in August 2023. He arrives in Newark after spending the last two years as a graduate assistant coach at South Alabama.

In his two years with Jaguars, the men’s golf team won two events and recorded seven top-three finishes including a third-place showing at the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Prior to his arrival at South Alabama, Zimmerman served as a non-PGA assistant teaching professional at the Harbor Point (Mich.) Golf Club.  In his role with the club, he aided the head professional in practice sessions while creating youth camps in which he worked with individuals at a variety of age and skill levels.

Zimmerman also has served as the assistant general manager at the Bruce Hills (Mich.) Golf Club and as a personal trainer at LA Fitness.

A native of Almont, Michigan, Zimmerman lettered in golf for four years at Roosevelt (Ill.). He was a three-time team captain and also served as the president of the school’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Zimmerman earned his bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt in sustainability and environmental science. He also received a master’s degree in public administration at Delaware as well as a master’s in educational leadership and administration from South Alabama.
