Patty Post, who served six seasons as the head coach the University of Delaware women's golf team team from 2011-17, enters her sixth season as Director of Men's and Women's Golf Programs in 2022-23.
During the women's program's inaugural season in 2011-12, Post helped lead the Blue Hens to top-10 finishes during eight of 10 tournaments on the year. Delaware finished among the top five in three tournaments, including a season-best fourth at The Spider at St. James Invitational.
During the 2012-13 campaign, the Blue Hens posted six top 10-finishes on the year, including a fifth place showing at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships.
In 2013-14 Delaware enjoyed an outstanding season, as the Blue Hens finished among the top five in all but one tournament. UD claimed team titles at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational, Rutgers Invitational and Delaware Invitational, and capped its year by tying for second place at the CAA Championships.
Amanda Terzian was the first all-conference selection in program history as she was named second team All-CAA after leading UD with a 76.46 average round and placing fourth at the league championships.
In recognition of her efforts, Post was named the LPGA Teaching & Club Professional Northeast Coach of the Year in August and the National Coach of the Year in September, 2014.
In 2014-15 Delaware successfully defended its Tignanelli Towson Invitational crown, while Nathalie Filler became the first medalist in school history. The Blue Hens placed among the top five in all but two tournaments on the season, and set a school record with a 78.51 team average round.
Andi Slane capped the year by winning the individual title at the CAA Championship, capturing the crown by eight strokes. Slane cruised to the victory with a UD and conference tournament single round record of five under par 67 during the final round, while her three-round total of 209 was the lowest in school history by seven shots.
Post was named the CAA Coach of the Year in 2015-16 after leading the Blue Hens to the conference title, as Delaware posted an eight-shot victory. UD earned its first berth in the NCAA Regionals, finishing in 17th place at the Bryan (Tex.) Regional.
The Blue Hens captured the Rutgers Invitational crown, placed among the top five in six of 11 tournaments, and finished among the top 10 in every invitational except the NCAA Regional.
Slane successfully defended her CAA individual crown, becoming the first women's golfer in conference history to win back to back titles, and broke her own school record by averaging 75.17 shots per round. Slane and Filler each earned second team All-CAA honors following the season.
Despite losing her top three players, Post again led the Blue Hens to the CAA crown and an NCAA Regional appearance in 2016-17 while earning CAA Coach of the Year honors for the second year in a row.
Delaware recorded six top five finishes during the year, captured the season-opening Rutgers Invitational team crown, and defended its league title with an 11-shot victory before placing 15th at the NCAA Columbus Regional. Freshman Ariane Klotz was named the CAA Rookie of the Year and also was selected to the all-conference first team.
The Blue Hens continued their success in 2017-18, posting five top-three finishes and placing second at the CAA Championship. Ashley Dingman earned medalist honors at the Delaware Invitational, while Klotz was again named first team All-CAA and Thitaree Sakulbunpanich was selected CAA Rookie of the Year. Additionally, Post earned her second LPGA T&CP Northeast Section Coach of the Year honor.
In 2018-19 Delaware recorded six top-four finishes, again came in second at the league tournament. Klotz was named first team All-CAA for the third year in a row, while Sakulbunpanich joined her on the first team. In 2019-20 the Blue Hens recorded four top-six finishes, while Klotz set a single season mark by averaging 73.10 shots per round.
In the spring of 2021 Delaware won the Kingsmill Intercollegiate title, while Oihana Etxezarreta became the first freshman medalist in program history by posting an 11-shot victory at the tournament.
Last year Delaware and Etxezarreta successfully defended their Kingsmill Intercollegiate titles, while the Blue Hens set a program record with a 76.38 stroke average.
Post has also led a resurgence in the men's program, as the Blue Hens posted nine top-10 finishes during each of her first two seasons before recording five top-six places in 2019-20. UD recorded second place finishes in the George Mason Invitational and Manor Intercollegiate during her first year, before placing second and third respectively at the Villanova Fall and Spring Invitationals in 2018-19.
The Blue Hens' 561 total at the Villanova Spring Invitational set a 36-hole program record, while Matt Pulgini carded a 68-66 to post the second lowest individual two-round score. Additionally, Roberto Nieves established a freshman record by averaging 73.93 shots per round for the year.
In 2019-20 UD set a school record with a 74.21 team stroke average, and also established a program mark with a 267 during the final round of the Loyola Intercollegiate. Nieves, who earned medalist honors at the Loyola Intercollegiate, set a single season record with a 70.65 stroke average. He also tied the single round record with a 64 at the Golfweek Program Championship, and carded the two lowest three-round scores (202 at Golfweek and 205 at Loyola) in UD history.
Nieves averaged 71.35 shots per round in 2021, second lowest in a UD single season, and became the first UD men's golfer to earn first team All-CAA honors since 2011.
Last year Delaware won the Golfweek Fall Challenge and ODU/OBX Intercollegiate, and finished among the top five in four other tournaments. Nieves won the Wildcat Fall Invitational, set a UD record with a 70.58 average round, competed in the NCAA New Haven Regional and was again named first team All-CAA.
Post (nee Frohna) joined Georgetown University as the women's golf head coach in 2006 and guided a young program that has become one of the best in the BIG EAST Conference and in the region.
In her third year at the helm, during the 2008-09 season, the Hoyas posted eight top-10 finishes in 10 tournaments, including three top-five finishes in the Spring. Those finishes were highlighted by a team third place finish at the Big East Championships and a win at the NIU Snowbird Intercollegiate, the third team win in program history. She was named LPGA Northeast Section Coach of the Year 2009.
Two of her golfers - Chelsea Curtis and Carly Hunt - earned All-BIG EAST honors for the second-straight season. Six of the seven members of the women's golf team were selected to the All-BIG EAST Academic Team and Hunt, Robyn English and Joan Dulieu were named to the National Golf Coaches Association Scholar All-American list. Georgetown also served as the team host for the 2009 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship at Caves Valley Golf Course in Owings Mills, Md.
In her second season, the Blue and Gray posted eight top-10 finishes and finished in fifth place at the BIG EAST Championship. Four members of the team - Christine Curley, English, Hunt and Madeline Nguyen - were named to the National Golf Coaches Association Scholar All-American list.
Post guided the Hoyas to a fourth place finish at the 2007 BIG EAST Championship and to four top-five finishes and four top-10 finishes during her first season at the helm of the program.
In addition to her leadership of the team on the links, Post herself enjoyed a solid season of play. She played in the LPGA's Sybase Classic in May 2008, qualified for the LPGA Championship in June, 2010 and capped off her year by playing in the 40th PGA Professional National Championship.
Post came to Georgetown after spending the previous six years as a teaching professional and a player. She joined the Hoyas after serving as the Assistant Golf Professional at Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, Md. for two years (2004-05). At Lakewood, Post ran weekly tournaments, provided lessons, conducted clinics and assisted in the merchandising for the golf shop.
Prior to that, she spent two years (2003-04) at Admiral's Cove Golf Club in Jupiter, Fla. and was the Teaching Professional at Fair Oaks Golf Park in Fairfax, Va. from 2001-05.
During that time, Post was also pursuing a professional playing career. From 2003-05, Post played regularly on the Futures Golf Tour, earning exempt status on the tour that is known as the “Gateway to the LPGA.” She had two top-20 finishes in events during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. Her playing resume also includes Runner-up finishes in the Maryland Women's Open from 2003-05, named Middle Atlantic PGA Women's Player of the Year in 2002, 2005, 2006,and 2007, named LPGA Northeast Section Teaching and Club Professional Player of the Year in 2007, and was only the second female to qualify for the PGA National Club Professional Championship.
A 1999 kinesiology and zoology graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Post enjoyed a stellar amateur career. She was the Wisconsin Amateur Champion in 1998 and was named the most valuable player on the Wisconsin team in 1997 and 1999. Post won the 1999 Notre Dame Invitational and also earned CoSIDA Academic All-American honors during her career.
Post and her husband, Brendon, himself an accomplished golfer who served as Patty's assistant coach at Georgetown and now at Delaware, have two daughters, Miranda and Kiera, and a son, Landon.
